但是即便是正确的句子，也不能换成also。你可以看这样一在个句子：
Not only she also you are wrong.这个句子中就不用but(also可以替代）。但是只限于上面一种句式情况，其他情况必须适用but和also。
另外not only but also是固定句式，虽然是固定句式但是随着语言的发展，能省略就能省略的原则，只要意思明确那么没有必要仅仅钻牛角尖来看语法。
