对see you around这句话的正确理解是什么？

我的理解是，see you around是再见的意思，但这句话直译也可以说成“看你的周围”的意思，和我们中文里道别时常说的“路上慢点”“路上小心点”有异曲同工之妙，都是要注意周围有什么危险，我也记得很多黑帮游戏里（比如侠盗），人们道别时也常说see you around，意思大概就是要小心别的帮派的混混。请问，我这种理解对吗？如果不对，正确的理解又是什么呢？
