What force is exerted on a baseball when a) a catcher catches a
pitched fast ball, b) an outfielder catches a pop fly, and c) a batter
hits a home run?

this is all about momentum.
F=dp/dt=mdv/dt

a) a baseball is about 0.015kg, fast ball speed is about 40m/s, and the catching time estimated is 0.1sec
F=0.015*40/0.1=6N

b)pop fly, the catching time is longer i guess, say 0.5sec
F=0.015*40/0.5=1.2N

c)batter hit, dp=2*0.015*40, dt=0.02sec
F=2*0.015*40/0.02=60N
