英语学习当中学过诸如以下
to the south of Shanghai:上海以南
in/at the south of Shanghai或者 in/at southern Shanghai: 上海南部(不太确定，欢迎指正）
那如何翻译：南临上海（也就是上海北面）
比如： 南京，东临xx，西濒xx，是江苏省会。
试翻： Nanjing, east by xx and west by xx, is the capital of Jiangsu Province.
有 east by/against/to...这种表达吗

to the south of Shanghai:上海以南（表示那个地方不属于上海）
in/on the south of Shanghai: 上海南部（表示那个地方在上海内部）
南京，东临xx，西濒xx——那这些XX肯定是不属于南京了，就用第一个表达。
给你个例子吧：中国东临太平洋。
China faces the Pacific on the east.
这种情况下才可以用“东临”之类的词。
补充：南京可是小地方，中文你不能说“东临xx，西濒xx”的，只能说“在什么东边，什么西边”因此翻译应为：Nanjing, to the east of xx and west of xx, is the capital of Jiangsu Province.
