the following/ the next 与 follwing / next 有什么不同?

基本上没什么不同
the following是紧接着的
the next是下一个的

the following/the next指任意特指的对象的下面一个。如the next day可指前文所提到的过去的某一天后的一天，也可指前文所提到的将来某一天的后一天（没有限制）
follow、next有限制，仅指目前所提对象的下一个。如next day就指明天；following questions就指现文段下面的问题。

the following/ the next 用于间接引语
follwing / next 用于直接引语

前者特指 后者泛指
