some 后是可数名词复数用are
some 后是不可数名词用is

用are some修饰可数

there be 句型的复合结构，某地有某物，这里为引申意思，这里可能有点误会

is是修饰sort的，同时some sort of一起修饰misunderstanding，意思是某种，some在这里是单数形式
