关于remain与stay的选择题

remain和stay不是有这相同的含义，为什么选stay而不选remain？

就一般的保持之意是stay，我看选项之前我就想填stay了

stay作系东西，就是单纯的保持一个什么状态。。

不选remain的关键有一个被单独留下在那保持原状的意思。。。比如

the desk remain dirty while the room has been cleaned

这句里用remain就比stay好。。
