答案是as predicting 错了为什么，

“as predicting”应该是“(so as) to predict"或者“（in order) to predict”.把儿童召集起来试玩玩具，观察他们对玩具的选择，其“目的”是预测哪种玩具会最火爆的。所以应该用表目的的状语。
