楼主问题中的motivation应该改成motivated吧。当初到美洲的殖民者各种人都有，很难说是由单一一种因素驱动，有因为宗教原因到美洲的清教徒、Quakers，有在旧大陆赤贫去新大陆寻找机会的人，也有很多冒险者。
