An old carpenter（木匠）was ready to retire（退休）. He told his boss about his plans to leave.
His boss was sorry to see his worker go. He asked if he could build him just one more house as a favor（善行）. The carpenter said yes, but he was not really interested. He used poor materials and didn’t work as before.
When the carpenter finished his work, his boss came to see the new house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. “This is your house,” he said, “my gift to you.”
