空手道与柔道、跆拳道一样，空手道的等级也是用腰带颜色来表示的：

10~9 级：白带 8 级：黄带 7 级：红带 6 级：橙带 5 级：蓝带

4 级：绿带 3 级：紫带 2~1 级：茶带

再升一级是黑带，也就是入段了：

初段：练习经过2年以上者（必须16岁以上）

二段：取得初段者（必须16岁以上）

三段：取得二段者（必须16岁以上）

四段：取得三段后、3年以上经过者（必须20岁以上）

五段：取得四段后、4年以上经过者（必须20岁以上）

六段：取得五段后、5年以上经过者（35岁以上）

七段：取得六段后、6年以上经过者（41岁以上）

八段：取得七段后、7年以上经过者（48岁以上）
