rather than后的having to 可以省去吗

The athlete uses the pull of gravity to move forward, rather than having to use his own energy to push himself forward.
rather than 后面不是跟什么都可以吗？那这里为什么非要跟上having?前半句中也没有doing 的形式啊？

1.rather then 后面跟上 having to sth. 跟前面有没有doing形式没关系.
2.前半句的谓语(这句中是 uses)也不该是doing形式
3.此句中文意思是: 运动员靠重力的拉力向前运动而不是非得用他自己的力量向前运动.
4.这里的rather than 后面如果接动词, 首先该接个v+ing形式的动词, 是不是have没关系, 你在rather than 后面直接用using 也可以(同时把having to删掉)
