Die away: become less in amount or intensity.
The storm died away. The music died away.

Die down: become progressively weaker.
The laughter died down.
If you're growing them for exhibition, they should be planted as
soon as the leaves have died down in July and August.

其实很多时候没有必要分得很仔细的。这些最好是靠语感来分析。

Die away 和 Die down 都是减弱。Die away 更侧重于减弱直至“消失”。Die down 本意是说植物叶茎枯萎脱落，不过明年还会发芽的那种。引申为减弱，但die down 的东西一般是不会完蛋的。

Die out 和 off 都是灭绝。没什么大区别。不过"die off" 更有种叶子死后从树上落下的意思。所以一般Die off 是说个体死亡或部分灭绝。而Die out则是整体灭绝。
The dinosaurs died out millions of years ago.
It'll cause too much trouble and the whole marriage thing would just die out.

There are only four of us living now. The rest all died off with pneumonia.
Dinosaurs died off, but why the frogs and turtles lived？（这里恐龙相对于爬行动物，所以是die off。）
