意思是说古代某国，飞马传书，因马掌缺了一个钉子，造成马掌脱落，战马仆倒，战士摔死，信未送到，战争失败，最终导致了国家灭亡。谁也没有想到，致使国家灭亡的竟会是一颗小小的钉子——正是这颗小小的钉子，造成了一系列的连锁反应，其结局是惨重的。它们告诉人们：“小洞不补，大洞吃苦”，量变终究会发生质变。
