My experience is slightly different from those who have responded. I have worked in Hong Kong, USA and Canada, with universities, government and business organizations for 25 years. I have hired professionals from selected disciplines with minimum qualifications of a masters degree and some with a PhD.

First, all candidates will submit their resumes, which will be screened by the human resources department. Resumes are usually in 2 to 3 pages long. Nobody will have patience reading anything longer than that. A C.V. is needed for university teaching.

A resume consists of a brief statement of Objective, and then a few bulletin points of Highlight. The most important part (75% of the resume) is Professional/Work Experience. After that is qualifications including academic degree(s) and professional designations. No school results should be included. The last 2 sections are Skills and Reference (names and phone numbers only).
