scare和frighten 区别

frighten是最普通的词，没有特殊的意义，仅表示“吓唬”或“使…害怕”
Not wanting to frighten the poor man, Mrs Richards quickly hid in the small store-room under the stairs.
理查夫人不想吓唬这可怜的人，所以她很快地藏到楼梯下的小贮藏室里。

scare在口语中的含义与frighten相同，可以通用；但是在文学作品中，用词准确的作家总是把它用于表示把某人“吓跑”
The dog scared the thief away.
那只狗把小偷吓跑了。
The firecrackers scared the cat.
爆竹声把那只猫吓跑了。
