First of all, I would like to thank you for putting forward interesting topics.
I once attended a seminar with a group of American teachers. At the end of the seminar, all of us had to speak a few words in front of a camcorder about how special we were. One by one the American teachers eloquently talked with great pride how wonderful they were. Some said they work hard at school and they prepare meals at home. Some said they were special because they have raised wonderful children. I was laughing in my heart, “What? They think they are special doing things they are supposed to do?”
When it was my turn, I simply said “I am not special. I think I am just an ordinary working mother.” My American colleagues rolled their eyes in disbelief. “Oh, come on, you are a very special person. Look, you have done this and that. You have accomplished this and that. That is amazing. That is so special.”
