我的host和guest都是 win xp 版本相同

我个人这样理解：
如果是桥接模式，那么只要你的虚拟机IP和用户机的在一个网段就可以了。
如果是仅主机（only－host）我试过好像无论怎么样都无法通信，这种模式可能指的是虚拟机之间通信的设置(不确定)
如果是nat模式，你只要将虚拟机的IP设为自动获取，那么它通过DHCP服务器，然后进行NAT地址解析，就可以和主机通信
