表面上看好像是，这个被当作挡箭牌的人开始。。。?

这个我在篇章语言学中间看到过，哈蒂姆的文本分类中有一种称为argumentive（辩论体），其中分为两小类，一个为through argumentation，就是从头到尾都是围绕自己的观点张开论述。第二小类为counter argumentation，就是反驳类的辩论文章，这类文章的传统手法是先将对手的观点说出来，似乎有理，然后再给出反例，从而有力地驳斥对方的观点，然后在这种类型中首先提出的对手论点（也就是要攻击的论点）就称为 straw man gambit。至于怎么翻译，我觉得可以翻译为“稻草人靶子”，当然在具体语境中要具体翻译，像前面楼层提出的掩护策略，虚晃一枪都很不错。
