大家好,我在一本杂志上读到这一句话,可是我有一个问题想请教大家:

Naomi Watts' rise to fame woundn't be as smooth as Nicole kidman's, though. For 10 years, Watts acted in small films in Australia and Hollywood....

为什么要用 woundn't be 而不直接用 wasn't 呢?意义上有不一样吗?

i remember when i was in junior middle school, an english teacher told us that "used to" is to say that you often did something in the past; and "would" will mean you often did something in the past and still do that at now or maybe future.

so, here, i think this may be explain why they use "would " here.
