3.4. Sequence of invariance analysis
Prior to invariance testing, each subgroup was
assessed. The decision to exclude a subgroup
depended on a comprehensive assessment of item factor
loadings and model-data fit. Low item-factor
loadings would suggest that the factors did not have
the same meaning in a subgroup, making comparisons
meaningless. Item-factor loadings above 0.60 were
considered acceptable [4]. Failure to achieve adequate
model-data fit on one or more criteria should not,
however, exclude a subgroup from further analysis.
