为什么是operating table不是operated table??

应该是operate的现在分词做定语,修饰table

动词的ing形式可用来表名词的用途eg. a walking stick (拐杖) a swiming pool (游泳池) SO an operating table is a kind of table used when a doctor operates on a patient. 做手术用的桌子即手术台
而动词的过去分词常用来表过去的eg. a used battery 用过的电池
且过去分词有被动的含义eg. a newly discovered island 刚被发现的海岛
operated table 没有意义 显然不能是被做过手术的桌子
