形容词的比较级和最高级是一个重点语法项目。使用形容词的比较级和最高级时应注意以下几点： 一、从范围上看，如果在同一范围内，形容词的比较级必须把自己排除掉，即自己不能与自己相比，而最高级必须包含自己。例如：

Shanghai is larger than any city in Australia.上海比澳大利亚任何城市都大。(上海不属于澳大利亚，所以city前不必加other)
试比较：Shanghai is larger than any other city in China.上海比中国任何一座城市都大。

二、从数量上看，形容词比较级用于两者(人或事物之间的比较，表示其中一个比另一个更......或较......。例如：
This apple is bigger than that one.这个苹果比那个苹果大。
He is older than Tom.他比汤姆年龄大。
最高级用于三者或三者以上的人或事物之间的比较，表示在众多人或事物中，其中一个最......。例如：
Kate is the shortest of the three.三人中凯特个子最矮。
