现在进行时（present continuous）是一个动词时态。
正确的结构是“to be + 动词的现在分词 (也就是俗称ing形式)”。
用于表达现在正在进行的动作。

1） 表示此刻正在进行或发生的动作，可以与时间状语now，at the moment等连用，也可不用状语。

例 1 He is writing a letter to his parents now.

他正在给他的父母写信。

例 2 What are you laughing at?

你在笑什么？

例 3 A fire is burning in the fireplace.

壁炉里的火烧的正旺。

2） 表示现阶段正在进行而说话此刻不一定进行的动作，可以与now，today，these few days，this week（month，year），this term等时间状语连用。

例 1 How many subjects are you taking this semester?

例 2 The physicists are making an important experiment these days.

这些天物理学家正在进行重要实验。

例 3 Now we are struggling with environmental pollution.

如今我们正在和环境污染作斗争。

3） 表示按计划安排和打算将要发生的动作，一般常有一个表示将来时的状语，常见的能表示此意义的动词有： arrive，borrow，come，discuss，fly，give，go，interpret，join，leave，move，play，run，sail
