cloud到底可不可数？

嗯,这个先不说了吧.
我们英语书上有这样的原句There are some clouds.这是带S的.
然后我们英语报有道题There are lots of ___ in the sky.
我想,那都是复数了,这也该负数吧?! 我就整复数. 老师后来说的应该是原形.
那它是咋回事呢?是该什么时候复数什么时候单数呢?
刚去百度词典查了,就是云那一个意思 又有C又是U..这词太变态..

不管cloud是单数还是复数

There are lots of ___ in the sky.
因为 are 是复数 所以横线上填 clouds

cloud 有的书上说是复数 有的书上说是单数
就像 chocolate(s) 不同的书上说的不一样

There are lots of clouds in the sky 或 The sky is cloudy （形容词）
你老师错了。
