The same year she led an army of 12,000 to Rheims and had the dauphin crowned Charles VII. Captured and sold to the English by the Burgundians (1430), she was later tried for heresy and sorcery and was burned at the stake in Rouen. She was canonized in 1920.

唉，凡事总得有个先入为主、约定俗成的标准。迂腐权威译得再烂也总比没有一个统一译法要强。
哈丁（也称海廷）之战(Battle of Hattin)中的Reynald de Chatillon译成“沙蒂永的雷纳尔德”，大家还能知道。但是如果把Joan de Arc或者Joan of Arc译成“雅克的琼”，估计就没有几个人知道是在指谁了。
那个权威估计早就去见马克思或者德先生赛先生了，追究的事情就大可不必了吧......
很多事情约定俗成了就不改了。比如Monroe，梦露是一个，美国前总统门罗一样的姓，翻得不同。贞德突出了优良品质，将就一下吧。
