视觉系摇滚
英文名为Visual Rock。起源于20世纪70年代的欧美。视觉系摇滚是在时代进步，人们不再局限于听觉上的满足而追求视觉冲击的基础上产生的。科技发展，电视机、录像机、影碟机的普及也促进了视觉冲击的到来。
视觉系（日语：ヴィジュアル系）是从日系摇滚发展出来的一种乐团类型。视觉系这个名称实际上和任何音乐类型无关，是用来指称那些拥有夸张服装与化妆的乐团。在日本，视觉系的乐迷几乎都是由青少女所组成。在其他国家里视觉系乐迷的数量相对而言较少，而男女比例则大致相同。
视觉系乐团的成员通常有引人注目的化妆，夸张的发型以及精心制作的服装。虽然绝大部分的视觉系乐团都是男性，但是他们的服装与化妆时常会被视为是女性化的。服装元素对乐迷的吸引力非常大，有为数众多的少女会cosplay他们最喜欢的乐团，尤其是在日本的演唱会或者是在美国动画展上。
由于视觉系是着重在视觉风格之上，因此它是一种乐团类型而非一种音乐类型。大部分的视觉系乐团都是走日系摇滚（如月之海（LUNA SEA）、Dir en grey），流行音乐或者轻摇滚（如GLAY、彩虹〈L'Arc-en-Ciel〉、神威乐斗〈Gackt〉）路线。不过还是可以看到一些乐团是走重金属，工业摇滚，Synth Pop，庞克等音乐路线。从大范围来看，大部分的视觉系乐团走的都是某种“摇滚乐”的路线。
视觉系风潮的兴起大多说是起于X JAPAN。然而在X成名的时候，运用视觉震撼来吸引群众在当时逐渐成为潮流；从这个角度来看，X与其说是视觉系风潮的引领者，不如说是他们呈现了当时日本主流的流行文化。
