而网络媒体也成为现今的主流传播媒体，那么如何更好的通过这个主流传播媒体来传递要想传达的信息呢？网站是目前网络世界中最普遍也是最直观的信息传递方式之一，可以说它是网络中最有效的信息组织形式，而网站则是通过一个个单一网页的形式把信息分门别类的组织起来。将平面设计原理应用于网页的设计当中无疑可以提高网站整体的视觉传达效果，进而实现更好的信息传达效果。
纵然将平面设计应用于网站页面的设计当中可以对网站起到不可忽视的积极作用，然而这并不意味着可以将平面设计原理尽数应用于网页设计当中。因为两者毕竟各属不同的传播媒体领域，网络媒体作为一门新兴的传播媒体也存在着它本身的特殊限制条件和制约因素。
