从汉字文化学的角度去理解有宏观与微观两个角度：宏观的，是把汉字也看成是一个文化项，来探讨它与其他文化项的关系；微观的，是把汉字字符作为文化的载体，来探讨它所承载的文化信息。汉字承载的文化信息是本民族的文化发展动向，它以各种的载体形式广泛推动我国民族文化的发展，是民族文化发展的基本要素。
所以说汉字在每个历史发展时期对我国的民族文化的发展都起到了一定的促进和影响，是本民族文化发展的重要源泉和基本保障。
