I guess people are lonely to certain extent. Everyone need a company sometimes. You can't bother people all the time. You can't force people to be with you either. Pets don't usually compalin. They need your attention, and they would whatever to please you. You may have children who can bring joy (sometimes tears too) to you. But children sooner or later will have their own lives. They will leave you. You pets, however, will always be there for you. Isn't it nice?

Yes. Nowadays the life pace is becoming faster and faster. Many people are under great pressue. They almost have no time to make friends or build a family. Pets turn to be their choice as companion. This way, these people get some comfort.
