“Class"一词何时用单复数取决于使用本词的哪个意义。

“Class"一词有可数名词的词意，也有不可数名词的词意。如果采用前者意义就可以用复数。

人们最常用的作名词用的“class”有如下几个意义：

（1） 班级：They visited five classes in this school.“他们参观了这所学校的五个班。”
（2） 课程：She goes to dance classes in the weekend.“她周末上舞蹈课。”
（3） 阶级，阶层：He studied the relationship between different social classes.“他研究了不同社会阶层之间的关系。”
（4） 级别：The stars have six classes of brightness.“星星有六个亮度级别。”
（5） 课堂：Lots of tasks were assigned to us during the class. “在堂上布置给我们了许多作业。”
（6） 品味：He has class of a collector.“他有收藏家的品味。”

前四者都是作可数名词用。此时如果指一件东西就用单数，指多件东西就用复数。后二者作不可数名词用，一律用单数形式。
