本论文主要对10000m3石油库的设计与安全性进行研究。首先阐述了石油性质、石油罐区的布置和储罐的排列、选型等，主要包括2个单罐容积为5000m3内浮顶罐以及其附件的安全设计。另外对罐区总平面布置，包括防火间距、防火堤的计算，消防道路的设计。主要通过力学中的强度理论对储罐的壁厚进行了设计和计算并校核，由相关手册查得的相应的防火间距，通过合理的计算和裕量确定设计了防火堤，以及完成了罐区和全厂的总平面布置。然后重点研究了消防设施的安全设计和输送设备。如：自动喷淋系统、泡沫灭火系统的设计、输送管道的安全设计等；对其进行了消防用水量的计算，以及泡沫灭火系统的有关计算。最后依照国家对安全颁布的法律法规在全厂也配备了合理的消防设施，并依照相应的法律法规完善了全厂规章制度，使得全厂能合理合法地运作和生产。
