I really don't know whether we shall choose "sit in a sofa" or "sit on a sofa".
I remember that my English teacher told me that we always say "sit in a sofa" but not "sit on a sofa".However,when I am doing the English exercises today,I saw the correct answer is "sit on a sofa".
Do you know why?Just help me~~~TAT

it should be
sit in a sofa
or
sit on a chair
Here's one definition for Sofa: "a comfortable seat with raised arms and a back, that is wide enough for two or three people to sit on".
And, should be "sit IN a chair", as in" Hey, you are sitting in my chair!"
我记得我们英语老师说过，如果座位是软的话，坐上去会陷进去的就用in,如果座位是硬的话，就用on.
