General Introduction
Dalarna University, which has expanded considerably since its start in 1977, can now offer study programmes in such areas as arts, computer science, economics and business administration, engineering, media, sports, teacher training and tourism. In addition there are some 80 independent courses. The University is a medium-sized Swedish university with about 6000 students and operations in the twin cities of Falun and Borlänge.

Dalarna University has the very latest technological equipment at its disposal. Individualised learning is facilitated by high computer density.

The School of Arts and Education trains teachers for all grades in the Swedish Compulsory and Secondary Schools, i.e. for ages 7-19. The programmes generally take 3.5 years to complete and consist of a number of course modules.
