有这样的句子：It is they rather than you are to blame.
这里are to be blame应该怎样翻译? 是该受到责备,还是该承担责任?
如果是前者,怎么不说成are to be blamed?如是后者,为什么没有for sth?
不懂了!help!

be to blame 而不是 be to be blame!

be to blame (for)应(为……)承担责任;该(为……)受责备。[注意]此处不能用被动语态。如:

The children were not to blame for the accident.那次事故怪不着孩子们。

He is more to blame than you.是他更应受责备,而不是你。

I am in no way to blame.决不该责备我。
