首先think of 和 think about 都有考虑的意思，如：What are you thinking of/about?(想什么呢？） 此外它们还都有想起的意思，不过think of侧重于有意记起或有意无意的想起，如：He could never think of the woman's name.（他再也记不起那个女人的名字了。）She thougt of him often.（她经常想他。）而think about侧重于突然想起，如：She thought about him and decided to call.（她想起他，决定给他打电话。）另外二者也都可以表示想像，如：Just think of/about what she's sufferd!（想像一下她的遭遇！）
除了以上这些意思think of还有为……考虑的意思，如：It was kind of you to think of our daughter.（谢谢你为我们的女儿着想。）还可以表示想出……如：Think of a situation where you can use this word.（想出一个能用上这个词的情境。）
