关于blame sb for sth

这里的sth到底是指什么？我的意思是看下面两个例句：
1 The students blame the teachers for their failure.(their指学生)
2 the students blame the teachers fot thier not working hard.(their指老师）
哪句话是正确的呢？

blame sb for sth 的意思是因为....责备某人
而其中的sth就是责备某人的原因..
for 后面接名词或名词词组

你的两个句子都是正确的.

The students blame the teachers for their failure.(their指学生)
The students are to blame for their not working hard.(their指学生）
blame表被动不用过去式

一般blame的用法是sb be to blame,表示某人被惩罚！！
如果有你说的那两个句子，那他们都是对的！！

第一句应该这么说 The students blame their failure on their teachers.
第二句：The students are to blame for their not working hard.
