[内容提要]:
《三国演义》中刻画了许多英雄人物，若论英勇善战、忠肝义胆当属关羽。作为一个文学形象，作为封建时代的英雄，关羽的性格是十分复杂而鲜明突出的。我们应该用发展的眼光来看关羽这一文学形象，不能用简单的一个事物的两个方面或两个侧面来看待关羽这一人物形象性格的复杂性。他先前是一位义薄云天的豪杰，英勇善战的英雄。但是随着时间的推移，故事的发展，关羽由一个普通的马弓手已经成长为勇冠三军，功高卓著的“五虎上将”之首。他的个人英雄主义思想迅速地膨胀，变得自大、暴躁，给自己以及蜀汉事业带来了莫大的损失。但是作者如此刻画，不但不影响关羽英雄形象的壮美，反而更加真实可信。我们不难看出关羽是一个活生生的蜀国大将，他的不断成长、成熟直至走向毁灭的全过程正是《三国演义》中蜀汉由弱到强最后走向灭亡的过程。
