这里为什么加ING形式

这里的sent词因为前面有了explosion(爆炸), 那么sent的意思是"使他们"的意思, 是形容当时的情景, 所以后面的动词变成进行时.

sent the crowd scattering (使群众散开逃走)
sent sb flying (使某人飞起)
