1853年
3月30 日出生于荷兰北部布拉班特省的格罗渥特-松特丹，是牧师的长子。
1857年
弟弟西奥出生。
1869年
在古辟画行海牙分店就职。（16岁）
1873年
转到伦敦分店，向旅馆的罗瓦伊埃家的女儿求婚，遭到拒绝。（20岁）
1875年
转到巴黎分店。
1876年
遭古辟画行解雇，因而前往英国的拉拇斯卡托，在寄宿学校服务。
1877年
在德而特雷希特的画店当助理。（24岁）
1878年
回艾登。在布鲁塞尔的传教士培养学校学习三个月。以后在没有领到许可证的情况
下，于波瑞纳吉的煤矿区开始传教活动。
1879年
由布鲁塞尔传教本部解除传教士职务。（26岁）
1880年
下决心当画家。
1881年
回到艾登向表姐凯求婚，遭到拒绝。
1882年
遇到妓女西嫣，在海牙同居。（29岁）
1883年
离开西嫣去德伦特。
1885年
父亲去世，到安特卫普。（32岁）
1886年
进入美术学院学习，但与老师对立，一个月后退学，辗转到巴黎，主宰弟弟西奥的
公寓，结识了罗特列克、贝纳、毕沙罗、高更等画家。
1888年
二月赴法国南部的阿尔旅居。租赁黄屋。10月高更来访。12月发生"割耳事件"， 高
更离去，梵高被送进医院。（35岁）
1889年
4月西奥结婚。5月梵高住进圣雷米精神医院。
1890年
5月在奥维尔的迦塞医生处就医。7月企图用手枪自杀。2月后去世。（37岁）

Starts working as a junior Clerk for the art firm of Goupil and Co. in the Hague.
1873
Van Gogh is transferred to the London branch of the art firm Goupil and Co.
Lodges with Sarah Ursula Loyer and falls in love with her daughter Eugenie.
1874
Learns that Eugenie is engaged to be married, then returns home to Holland for 3 weeks.
Moved to the Paris branch of Goupils temporarily against his will.
