My suggestions are:
1) Hugging isn't one of the formal social behavior especially to strangers. If we couldn't do it in right way, it may lead results against our original intention.
2) Most social barries are caused by government, history or national conflict etc, which couldn't be solved by a simple hugging or smile.

这种方式过于西方化，不是很适合中国人
