Thanks to its excellent geographic location, Guangzhou has a very promising development outlook. As provincial capital of Guangdong and a regional hub in southern China, the clustering and outreach effect of Guangzhou is playing an increasingly important role in the PRD economic region. The urban spatial development strategy of the Guangzhou municipal government is to "develop the south, optimise the north, explore the east and connect the west". The city aims to strengthen urban infrastructure and ecological environment construction in order to achieve sustainable development. The importance of Guangzhou as a metropolitan city will be reinforced as it grows to become a modern city ideal for setting up business and for living, extending its influence to the rest of Guangdong, the whole of southern China and even Southeast Asia.
