英国国花的来历

英国国花--玫瑰
英格兰的国花是玫瑰。自Lancaster与York 的玫瑰战争(1455-1485)起，玫瑰即成为英格兰的象征。当时代表Lancaster皇室的是红玫瑰，代表York皇室的是白玫瑰。约克郡人 (Yorkist)的政权于1485年8月22日李察三世被亨利七世在Bosworth击败后瓦解。当亨利七世与依莉莎白结婚时，这二种玫瑰合而为一白蕊 的红玫瑰。
北爱尔兰的国花是酢酱草，一种很像苜蓿的三叶草。听说爱尔兰的守护圣徒St. Patrick曾经藉此说明三位一体的教义。
苏格兰的国花是蓟花，一种叶子带刺的紫色花。最早在十五世纪被用来当作防御的象征。
玫瑰、酢酱草和蓟花这三种花通常会出现在皇室的盾形纹徽下面。
韦尔斯的国花是水仙花。传统上，国庆节St. David's Day会佩戴此花。青葱般的梗是韦尔斯传统的象征。也许是因为青梗白花的颜色呼应着古韦尔斯的旗帜。
