"My Computer/Palm/Device" should be highlighted.
Click "My Computer/Palm/Device" if it is not highlighted, "port/cable" should appear.
If "port/cable" does not appear, click the selection menu/list and select "port/cable".

In the HotSync application,verify the following:
Local is highlighted.If it isn't highlighted,tap Local.
The term Cradle/Cable appears.If not,tap the pick list,and then tap Cradle/Cable.
