用to themselves 指把(秘密)留给他们自己, 不让别人知道
用for me 指为我(保守秘密)

to是对他们自己
for是为了我

英语是很灵活的thanks for doing for sb

keep the secret to oneself
意思是守着自己的秘密
thanks for keeping the secret for me.
谢谢为我保守秘密。
keep secret for sb 意思是为了某人保守秘密

对于介词的理解上：1）TO（多）=对...... FOR（多）=为.....
这里包括很多地方用这个都行得通

动作的发出者和受用者TO（多）=对...... FOR（多）=为.....
