go on表示一个动作持续进行，而这里表示的是持续的状态，所以在这里似乎不太恰当

如果你当 durative 解作连续，它也不是名词。前面的冠词 a 是第二个错误。
for 后面一定是 noun phrase，但你用了 goes on，它是动词
