自NIRVANA(当然是美国第一grunge乐队了）解散后，原作为鼓手的DAVE GROHL自组了FOO FIGHTERS，在新乐队里，DAVE操起了吉它，并担任了乐队的主唱。

1995年，FOO FIGHTERS发行了他们的第一张唱片《Foo Fighters》，其风格很象原来的NIRVANA，看来DAVE一时还无法摆脱KURT的阴影。DAVE在这张专辑中的表现可说不过不失，并没有使大家感到满意，唯一使人知道的是：原来他弹吉它和唱歌都还不错。而1997年FOO FIGHTERS推出的第二张专辑《Mission Impossible》才真正展示了他们的实力，DAVE这次又坐回了鼓手的座位，原来薄弱的地方得到了加强，并且DAVE也从KURT的影响下走了出来，充分展示了他的音乐才华，该专辑也受到了乐评界一致好评。
