The present article describes a study of the influence of temperature on the bonding of steel plates to concrete by means of epoxy resin (Sika Icosit K101-AC, Sika Indu´stria Quı´nica SA, Portugal), when subjected to shear loads. In this study, three different strength classes of concrete specimens were bonded to steel plates. The test specimens were then submitted to heating and shear loads. This work describes the laboratory resources, the experimental model used for the shear tests, the fabrication of the test specimens, and the test procedures. The bonding zone was defined with the aid of finite-element models, since it influences the way stresses develop throughout the bond surface.
