这句话应该怎么正确理解他的含义

outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read

（相对于）门外的世界，在家里，一本书是一个人最好的朋友，那读来太艰深。

很经典的一句话。它说的是要在家里比在外面更有利身心的培养吧。

"inside of a dog"主要用意是contrast之前的"outside of a dog", 并没有什麼特别的意思.
如果平常讲话的时候突然冒出来一句(或是摇头晃脑的像大师一样的说)"inside of a dog, it's too dark to read", 大部分的人都觉得很奇怪吧(可能会问要不要吃药之类的).
这句之所以会有significance, 完全是因为他mirror第一句的"outside of a dog"

我觉得这个"inside of a dog, it's too dark to read" - the meaning can be taken literally. It wouldn't mean anything special in normal circumstances by itself, but following "outside of a dog...", it does somewhat add a comedic effect.

总之,如果就单单这一句来看, 当然是没什麼特别的意思(就是"在狗之内暗到不能看书" - 老实说还有点白痴), 要跟第一句一起看才有意思.

如果不算上狗的话,书是人类最好的朋友,可如果把狗算在内的话,书和狗比起来就显的太难以理解了.
