在耶稣出生的故事里the Wise Men是谁

太2:7 当下希律暗暗地召了博士来，细问那星是什么时候出现的。
Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

太2:16 希律见自己被博士愚弄，就大大发怒，差人将伯利恒城里，并四境所有的男孩，照着他向博士仔细查问的时候，凡两岁以里的，都杀尽了。
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

这几个博士应该来自波斯。

故事里的wise man（men）这个用法，在古希腊原文圣经里作μαγος（μαγοι），意思是magican，既“行法术的人”。μαγος(μαγοι)在新约中一共出现了五次。除了在耶稣出生的故事里出现了三次之外，另两次出现于使徒行传13：6，8。
也有不少解经学者认为耶稣出生故事里的μαγοι应该是指的懂得星象的人，因为在当时，星象也属于法术的一种。而且，从“我们在东方看见他的星”（马太福音2：2）来看，他们也许就是一些星象学家。也可能是因为他们懂星象的原因，所以在耶稣出生的故事里μαγος被翻译成“博士”。
至于他们从何而来，解经学者认为他们可能来自波斯或是玛代。具体人数也不详，只因他们共带了三件礼物给耶稣，所以人们通常认为有三个“博士”，但这个依据显然不够充分。
